The last thing you want is to come home to water in your home. It can cause unhealthy living conditions and extensive damage.

With winter upon us there are things you can do to limit your exposure.

Tip #1 - Clean your gutters

Clean your gutters – Remove leaves and debris that may impact melting ice or snow from flowing. This will help prevent ice dams.

Tip #2 - Regular maintenance

Perform regular property maintenance – Care for trees and shrubs that are close to the house, as frozen branches can break and cause damage.

Tip #3 - Seal cracks and insulate

Seal all cracks, holes, windows, doors and other openings on exterior walls with caulk or insulation to prevent cold air from entering.

Tip #4 - Insulate exposed pipes

Use pipe insulation, blankets, Styrofoam or swimming pool water noodles to help keep pipes from freezing.
